This week the NC Forest Service added over 1500 trout to Wildcat Lake in Banner Elk, some as large as 14″ and the fly fishing is going to be great this year. I’ve already seen a few anglers in local streams trying to catch an early fish. Don’t worry guys. I won’t tell where you were.
Wildcat Lake has been a locals destination for more than half a decade and used to supply power to the town from a hydro electric dam at the lower end. As it’s become more and more popular, sandy beaches and summer lifeguards have been added. This makes it a safe and fun place to spend those warm summer days with the whole family or by yourself.
Banner Haven Bed and Breakfast and Cabin Rentals is only a couple of miles from the lake and directions are easy. If you want to swim, fish, sunbathe, or just people watch and relax, this is one of the great places to visit the next time your in town.
Banner Elk Activities are just getting started and there’s always something to do in or around town … even ghost hunting. More on this in later posts.
