It’s April 23rd and we’ve been planting flowers, cutting grass, and getting ready for summer. The last thing we expect to deal with this time of year is snow, but that’s what happened this morning, when we woke up to 2-3″ in Banner Elk and half a foot, just 2 miles away in Beech Mountain. The pictures below show you some of what it looked like but you can see much more on these two Faceboook pages.
These two albums showcase out spring snowstorm in pretty good fashion. It was a beautiful site this morning when we opened the windows and saw the snow. Forecasts had only called for a light dusting, which is what lower elevations reviewed, but we got a couple inches and half a foot fell just a couple miles away from the house. Like many of the snows this winter, warm temperatures followed and most of the snow was gone by early afternoon, but cold weather is coming again tonight and we may have more to show off tomorrow.
